When life gives you lemons, MAKE LEMONADE!
Blend 2 drops of Lemon oil & 2Tbs of Honey in 2 cups of Pure Water. Adjust to taste.
This week we will talk about the exceptionally versatile Lemon oil. It is a natural germicide and one of the least expensive oils yet is so powerful it can remove petrochemicals, heavy metals, pesticides and other toxins from the body.
Lemon oil is illusory in the way it works. It is classified as a modifier and enhancer. As citrus, we assume it is acidic, which it is until it is digested, and then becomes a PH balancer, neutralizer and chelater. It attracts toxins, pesticides and petroleum products out of the organs, digestive tract and blood stream to be eliminated.
Try This Experiment:
Put 1 drop of lemon oil on a Styrofoam cup and let it sit for 30 minutes or so. When you come back it will have eaten a hole through the Styrofoam and will continue to do so. This is a very visual way to show the effects of essential oils.
Don’t be alarmed thinking it will eat away at you. It dissolves only the toxins that we ingest every day and cleanses the lymphatic system.
Recipes:
Drinking lemon water regularly is a wonderful way to stay healthy and build the immune system. Warm water or tea with Lemon oil and honey is also a great way to enhance your health, especially when you are sick.
Add 1 drop to baked goods to enhance the flavor.
Mix Lemon oil directly in water or soy/rice milk and add honey to make a beverage.
Internal use:
Besides balancing blood pressure, Lemon oil relieves heartburn, reduces fever and helps with liver problems. It stimulates red and white blood cell formation. It can help with anemia, asthma, gout, rheumatism, gallstones and intestinal parasites. In addition Lemon oil can relieve throat and ureter infections, and has been extensively studied for its ability to combat tumor growth.
External use:
One of the best and least expensive ways to lower and balance your blood pressure is to apply Lemon oil to the soles of the feet, morning and night for about 3 months. This remedy has been used historically.
I’ve used lemon juice to clean my hair for years, which gives it a wonderful shine, leaving it free of detergent residue. It is also a lightening agent.
Lemon oil can strengthen and harden nails.
Two drops topically can heal athlete’s foot, warts and other fungi or viruses.
Cosmetic: Use Lemon oil as an astringent. It can reduce wrinkles and treat acne.
For Aches & Pains
For neck pain try Lemon oil at the base of the big toe.
It can relieve arthritis, muscle soreness and varicose veins.
For Mood Enhancement:
Lemon promotes clarity of thought and purpose, improves memory, increases relaxation and decreases anxiety.
Citrus scents in general, reduce depression, induce relaxation and boost immunity.
Study:
At Japan University, researchers found that diffusing certain aromas in an office environment dramatically improved mental accuracy and concentration. Of three scents tested, including jasmine and lavender, lemon resulted in 54% fewer errors and improved test scores by over 50%.
Cleaning Tips
Lemon oil will purify drinking water in public places. It neutralizes the chlorine and fluoride.
After using a public restroom, massage a drop on your hands as an alternative to anti-bacterial soaps. Lemon oil is so much healthier. (Continual use of chemical, commercial soaps actually impairs the body’s natural immunity to germs, especially in children, and isn’t totally effective unless you wash for a full minute.)
To clean and increase the shelf life of fruit & vegetables, fill a non-metal container with cool water and 2-3 drops of Lemon oil. Rinse produces and place in the bowl, making sure all surfaces contact the lemon water. No need to rinse afterward. Always rinse melons, potatoes and squash this way as the rinds are often loaded with pesticides, mildew and other pollutants (remember the spinach and romaine contamination of 2007).
Lemon oil works in the air as a disinfectant and air freshener.
Add 1 drop to the dishwasher before the wash cycle to help clean the dishes.
Add a few drops of Lemon oil in a spray bottle full of water to sanitize countertops and cutting surfaces. It may also be used to clean bathroom fixtures, blinds and windows. It helps to remove gum, wood stain, oil, grease spots and crayon.
Airplane/Bus/Subway/Train: I have a friend who uses Lemon oil on board. The smell is familiar and non-offensive. It will cleanse and disinfect the air and protect you from germs and illness. It’s amazing how many germs are on public handrails, shopping carts, etc.
Put 10–15 drops of Lemon oil in each gallon of rug cleaner to help brighten carpets and pull out stains. It will leave a fresh smell in the room.
Lemon oil is germicidal, antiseptic, ant-viral, anti-fungal and an astringent. The aroma is invigorating, refreshing, mood enhancing and warming.
My Motto–Don’t leave home without Lemon Essential Oil!
