Here are the quickest ways for your body to absorb an essential oil in order.
1. Behind the ear, down the carotid artery to the jugular.
2. The forehead
3. Inner forearm to wrists
4. The trunk of the body
5. Down the leg

As a reflexologist my personal favorite is the soles of the feet. The feet are the most porous part of the body for absorption to occur. The feet have over 72,000 nerve endings connecting the body to every gland, part and organ of the body. There is the least concern over skin sensitivity in this area as the skin is so hard. Finally if someone is sensitive to smells putting essential oil on the soles of the feet is less likely to be perceived especially if you put shoes and socks on after applying. After a shower is a good time to apply the oils because your pores are fully opened!
