to help one sleep.

Did you know… from 10:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. the body at sleep processes physical repair.

From 2:00 P.M.- 6:00 P.M. the the body at sleep processes emotional repair.

Optimum sleep time is 8 hours. We all need at least 6 hours of sleep with 2 hours of downtime either through meditation, prayer, knitting or sewing-something quiet to put us in a meditative state.

There are three other practices we need to incorporate on a daily basis to stay well.

Eating properly- For example, ingest the recommended amounts of  vegetables per day.

Eat whole organic foods. Don’t just take vitamins and think that is a replacement. We need whole foods for optimum health.

Exercise-1and 1/2 to 2 hours per day or at least 3-5 hours per week.

Socialization-  For example volunteering. We are social creatures. Sitting in front of the television set is not considered interaction/ or meditation.

Now back to Sandalwood. Santalum Album, (The Latin name) is  taken from a parasitic evergreen tree and extracted from the tree’s heartwood.

Traditionally Sandalwood was used to evoke higher states of consciousness, encourage a meditative state and enhance devotion to God. Interestingly enough, it does not produce an otherworldly effect,  it brings us back into connection with our essential self, ridding our need to over think,  or worry incessantly, bringing us back to the here and now in an accepting manner.

Sandalwood is primary used for pitta or fire conditions where the body has too much heat.It can be used effectively with hot , agitated emotional states that lead to headache, insomnia and nervous exhaustion, thus helping one to sleep.

It is used for anti-inflammatory conditions, especailly intestinal and urogenital issues and lung conditions such as chronic bronchitis.

Good for the skin, Sandalwood is excellent for everything from skin infection and regeneration to eczema and psoriasis.

Sandalwood is anti-tumoral, ranked highest for the the broadest spectrum anti-cancer activity for all types of cancerous conditions. It can be combined easily (layered) with Frankincense,  Ledum, Myrtle, or Tsuga for breast cancer, Thyme, Myrtle or Dill for prostrate cancer and Clove, Thyme and Hyssop for lung cancer just to name a few.

Sandalwood effects these body systems: Emotional Balance, Muscle and Bone, Nervous System and Skin.

Apply topically on area of concern or diffuse.

This is a thick oil, rather sticky, high in sesquiterpines, it crosses the blood brain barrier. As with all wood oils it is empowering.

This oil is expensive as it is rare but well worth it. Try it and see if it works for you.
